Q. Is Cambodia a safe country to travel to?

A. Cambodia is considered a very safe and welcoming country to travel to. It is a politically stable country that follows the peaceful religion of Buddhism.

Q. What vaccinations do I need prior to travel?

A. Please consult your local GP to discuss your options.

Q. Is there Malaria?

A. Malaria is not prevalent in the towns and surrounding villages where our tour travels, however we advise you to seek professional medical advice from your local GP before travelling.

Q. What currency is used in Cambodia?

A. The US Dollar is used all throughout Cambodia in conjunction with the local currency, the Riel.

Q. Are there atm machines in Cambodia?

A. Yes there are many safe and reliable atm machines around the main towns for tourists use.

Q. Can I buy western grocery products in Cambodia?

A. Yes you can buy most typical western grocery products in the western grocery stores in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh that expatriate families living there use for their grocery needs.

Q. Are there Pharmacies in Cambodia providing western products?

A. Yes there are well stocked pharmacies in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh that tourists and expatriate families use for all their personal needs.

Q. Are there any dress codes in Cambodia?

A. There are no dress codes in Cambodia. While the Cambodian people dress modestly not showing a lot of skin, they are very tolerant of other cultures. However, in saying this, it is respectful to follow this lead and dress modestly, particularly when out in the village. Pagodas and temples require covering clothes before entering.

Q. What clothing should I pack?

A. Cambodia is a very hot and humid country with very few smooth pavements so sensible shoes (sneakers/trainers) for walking are advised as well as simple thongs/sandals. Cool loose fitting comfortable and practical clothing is most suitable. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen will keep the sun at bay. A  modest shirt and long pants will be needed when entering the temples.

Q. What religion is practiced in Cambodia?

A. Cambodia is a Buddhist country with a small percentage of Christians and Muslims.

Q. Can I get a local sim card to call home on?

A. Yes. It is very cheap and simple to pick up a local sim card to use in your mobile phone and cheap rates can be accessed to call home.

Q. What power sockets (outlets) are used in Cambodia? A. Two pronged pin power plugs are most commonly used throughout. The below picture shows the three types you will find in Cambodia. An adapter will be needed for Australian appliances.
